I don’t live in Manitoba. Can I open an account?

Absolutely! But first you have to meet a few requirements. You must be at least 18 years of age, have an account and a personalized cheque from another Canadian financial institution, have a valid SIN and email address, and agree to invest in a $5 refundable share. Unfortunately, at this time, we cannot offer Hubert services to Quebec residents. Please keep in mind that Hubert only offers personal accounts. You cannot open a business or trust account with Hubert.

Are there any fees?

Hubert has zero transaction fees. Whether you’re making a deposit, transferring funds, setting up a registered account, or making a withdrawal, you won’t be charged a fee!

However, Hubert does charge fees for two things:

  • Wire transfers (incoming fee is $9.07 CDN for Canadian wires or $11.77 USD for US wire transfers).
  • $25 fee for accounts that are inactive for six months with a balance under $1,000.
    • Since inactive accounts are not being monitored by the account owner they pose a higher risk for fraudulent activity and have to be dealt with in a timely manner. If you don’t process a transaction semi-annually we’ll mail you a letter notifying you your account has become inactive and will request you to log into your account and process a transaction.  Once this is complete we’ll remove your inactive status.  Easy peasy!

How do I make a deposit to my Hubert account?

To make a deposit to your Hubert account you have two options.

How can I transfer funds between my Hubert account and an account that I have with another financial institution?

To transfer funds to one of your external accounts, we’ll need verify it first.

We’ll add the first external account to your transfer list for you using the information on your initial cheque deposit. This will give you the ability to complete transfers online to and from that account. You can link up to 30 external accounts but both active and deleted accounts are included in this limit.

You can add additional transfer accounts directly through Hubert Online by following these easy steps:

  1. On the left hand menu select ‘Manage Transfer Accounts’.
  2. Click ‘Add Account’ and enter the bank, transit, and account number for the account you’d like to add. In the next few days, Hubert will make a small deposit to the entered account.
  3. When you know the amount of the deposit, log into Hubert Online and access the ‘Manage Transfer Accounts’ menu option. Simply enter the amount for the newly added account and you’re done! You are now set up to transfer funds.
